Now that’s being Indian & Fantastic!! 😉

Hello Girlies,

I know it’s too late for a Diwali post, but out of the many hundreds celebrated, Diwali is one of my favourite festivals, so, couldn’t miss writing about it. A very happy Diwali to you all.

This time of the year is super exciting because it’s bombarded with festive parties, cocktails and weddings, So, best part about it is shopping traditional & fantastic Indian outfits. One such Indianastic anarkali, I had worn for Diwali this year. Bright, colorful, lively and when I saw it, I instantly knew this was going to be a part of my festive wardrobe.

For my make up, I went with a dull nude eye shadow all over the lid and drew on a dramatic eyeliner to match the grandeur of the look. Contoured my cheek bones for a flawless appearance and finished off with a touch of blush on the apples. I matched my lips to the dress which is one of my all time favourite combinations. I decided to go with simple pumps in a similar hue to streamline the look. Also, we Indians share this eternal love for jewellery, though I kept it bare minimum for this already heavy look.

That’s all for my Diwali outfit. I’d love to write more such posts for all you Girlies, until then hope you guys have a wonderful festive season and wish you all a very Happy Diwali and a prosperous new year!

Love ya all

Oopssss moments: Every Girl is Guilty Of

Hello Girlies 🙂

Hope ya’ll doing well !! So, I thought of writing something different for you today. Its the embarrassing  substitutes we all are guilty of using at least once 😛

1. Your finger as a toothbrush

You think, I was going to meet my crush over brunch with bad breath? No. I have some dignity left, and that relies on my ability to scrub the grossness off of my own teeth with my own finger. Classy!! (hahaha.. This tops my list as this sin is committed by each one of us at least once.)

2. Perfume as deodorant

So what, if you forgot to use antiperspirant? You’ll smell bad.. Naa..just cover it with a layer of scented alcohol that will dry your skin and cause you to sweat..Duh..

3. Body wash as face wash, and shampoo as body wash

All of them are soapy, after all. They are equal, right?

4. Hair band as a beloved accessory

Sometimes you share the most intimate bond with your hair band: you sleep, eat, shower, and cry with your hair band tied on the wrist. You hate seeing it off, and god forbid, if a friend asks you for one and then sees it right there on your wrist, then you say ‘hold on, I might have another one…. or.. umm.. a better one. 😉

5. Eyeshadow as blush / highlighter / bronzer(or vice-versa ;))

It’s a peachy shade. And now I have a peachy glow!!

6. Lipstick as a blush

Its an art called Finger painting! Just what my 5 year old nephew does.

7. Lingerie straps as a fun accessory

If I let these cheetah print or polka dot straps slip out of my shirt, it’s like cool, fun, edgy for a night out. Really!! Eeeww!! Trust me, it is a Big No No!!

8. Hairspray as body spray

Be it sticky and resistant to humidity, if I spray in front of me, I’ll smell fabulous!

9. Eyeliner as eyebrow filler

Its an eye product after all, let’s just use it.

10. Blush / bronzer as a cleavage enhancer

I know, you’ve read this in Cosmopolitan once, right? But, tread lightly, cos if done wrong this can look a lot like chest hair.

11. Water as lens solution

Let’s agree, It’s in the middle of the night and water is not even pricey. 🙂

12. Iron as hair pressing rod

I know, that was the only substitute readily available during hostel for your beautiful looking hair. 😀

hahahaaa…Watch out Girlies!! Refrain from doing such blunders.. And don’t hesitate to share some more with me.. Shhh.. I won’t tell anyone!

Sunday Dinner date Plans… Need help?? ;)

Hello Girlies …

Thinking of planning a sunday dinner date with your loved ones? Then you’re at the right place.

From gourmet ingredients, street style eateries to all night deliveries, Mumbai is a home to dozens of exquisite dining options catering to almost every product or service demanded by the discerning diner or self described “foodies”. One such place is “Masala Library”. After Punjab Grill, its a new venture by Jiggs Kalra and its one of his finest creations. And you gotto read below as I was literally sitting at the edge of my seat waiting to see what’s coming next. 🙂Masala Library

So, I visited this place for my 1st experience of Molecular Gastronomy dining or Modern Cuisine (Its a style of cuisine in which chefs explore culinary possibilities by using liquid nitrogen. Is it safe? 😉 Oh, yes it is completely safe and healthy).

It was a special evening for my sister as we were celebrating her Karvachouth (Indian tradition fast). Since, we wanted it to be a special one, we secured a table 8-10 days in advance. So, as we entered, the ambience and hospitality was usual and basic. But the dining experience started with two complimentary appetizers – a Thandai shot (refer the image below) and a Maska Bun. Must admit, the shot was exquisite which went down smoothly with a burst of Indian flavors.

This was followed by our order from the menu- the mushroom chai (actually a soup :)), dabolical papad platter with 8 chutneys, its a papad lovers delight 😉 and Quesadillas with a south indian twist which was YUMM..

Papad Platter

After the appetizers, I was really intrigued by another round of complimentary dish which (as they explained) was to cleanse our system before the main course. It was a frozen Mishti doi Lolly (more like an ice-cream Lollipop) and I had two, have to admit, it was Yumm ummm.. girlies…

For the maincourse, we ordered Aloo Bukhara Korma (Signature dish – Potato with curry), Veg Ratatouille along with white wine kneaded naan (bread), cheese margherita and mushroom kulcha (bread). Again, it was exquisite with diversity of traditional Indian fare but didn’t eat much as I wanted to keep some space for desserts in my already bloated stomach. 🙂

Now this is the best part! For sweet endings, we ordered Jalebi caviar, which is a sinful dessert you must try along with a Biscuit ice-cream. Yummy yumm.. it was…

I’m still not done, Girlies!! We were again served with their compliments, a paan flavored Cotton Candy, which was a Perfect way to end the special night reviving the old lost childhood memories. 😉

Not only did I enjoy the food but I also appreciated the servers’ knowledge about each dish and the origin of its ingredients as well as the well-lit simple décor of the restaurant. Overall,I give it a 9/10 to this ultramodern culinary tradition as #Masalalibrary by #Jiggskalra (1 point to be deducted because of not readily available reservations).

So, Girlies, go and have this exquisite fine dining experience with your lovelies. And don’t forget to share your experience with me by posting the picture on instagram (tagging @nikeeta13 with #girlydiaries) and I will feature you on my next blog 🙂

We could be loving, affectionate, but umm…. PMSing at the same time. Girls, let’s agree,  we are slightly complex creatures but we all need to know that one (or may be 2, 3, 4.. :P) thing(s) in us which could be annoying or not so perfect but it could really define us completely. Shine away to Glory – 7 Skincare Tips that you should never compromise on!!

Hi everyone!
Here is my first post dedicated to the most common trouble makers for girls “Skincare”. A regular Skincare regime is as vital for skin as it is food for body. There are some of the tips that dermatologists across the world vouch upon:

1. Keep your skin hydrated-Golden rule: Whether you want glowing skin, shinier hair, healthier body or all three, drink as much as you can! I mean water! It’s the world’s best beauty elixir. Water is needed for all your bodily functions to go on smoothly. Dehydration can show on your skin in the form of dry, flaky skin and numerous other skin problems. You must’ve heard this innumerable times, but mentioning it once again, drink at least 10 glasses of water a day.

2. Disdain from Junk food: Dermatologists proclaim that refraining from unhealthy junk / fried food can help your skin a lot. Instead include green tea in your diet regularly, post meals as a great antioxidant. They reduce the effects of free radicals, which are harmful for skin cells. Though you can have cheat days, like me, on Saturday or Sunday once in a while, but a healthy and balanced diet can show amazing results on your skin.

3. Daub the sunscreen: Always wear a good SPF sunscreen with broad spectrum protection even if you’re not stepping out, or even if it’s night or cloudy. Nothing damages the skin more than harmful rays of sun. A good quality sunscreen is your only saviour.

4. Replace harsh soap with mild cleansers / face wash: Beauty bars are high on pH levels that can damage your skin by ruining its texture and cause dryness, allergic reactions, etc. So, it’s better to switch to mild cleansers which have an ideal pH level of 7. However, my suggestion is to use Cetaphil. I can vouch upon it. Try it!

5. Swap towels with Tissues: it’s really important to use soft and clean towels for your face. Do not share your towels with anyone. Also, rubbing a towel can be harsh on your face skin, so, my mantra is to use dry tissues for your face. Clean, hygienic and soft!

6. Do not squeeze your pimples: If you have pimples on your skin, never squeeze them out. As that can lead to scars, zits, hyper pigmentation and further spread of bacteria. Trust me, personal experience, don’t ever compromise on this one.

7. Beauty sleep: Adequate sleep is a key part of a healthy lifestyle, skin, heart, weight, mind and more. Sleep deprivation can increase our stress levels. Your body and skin cells repair themselves when you are sleeping. Dermatologists recommend 7 hours of sleep in a day, I say 8. So, Girls go ahead and have a beauty sleep!

That’s all for today!
